Install Carousel
Run the installer on your Server (right-click Run as Administrator). Make sure you're on the Windows Server itself and not your workstation! Consult with your IT department if you’re unsure.
Select ‘Server’, but if the Server also functions as a Player you can check both boxes, then hit ‘Install’.
This part can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour... It really depends on network speed, server hardware, server load, and the version of Carousel. On a brand new system with an average network speed it will take 20 minutes. Keep in mind we install and configure SQL, .NET, and several other programs in the background. Since this is an upgrade (not brand new) it should go fast.
All done with the Server! Click ‘Finished’. The best screen to check after an update is the Player Dashboard under the top-right menu > Configure > Players > Dashboard.
BrightSign Players should automatically update. If they don’t after an hour you can try manually reboot them (unplug and plug back in) for it to apply. Since they download new versions of BrightSign OS over the network it can sometimes take longer if you have a lot of endpoints (100+).
Windows Players will need the Windows Player software installed to update from the older version. You can either use the main installer for this with just the Player checkbox checked or use the .MSI installer in the UI (after the update) under the top-right menu > Configure > Players > Player Setup.
AppleTVs just need to be on the latest version from the App Store.
