Disabling Automatic Windows Updates and Notifications for Carousel Players

Problem

Windows Update notifications are displaying on top of your Carousel Digital Signage content

Solution

Tightrope Media Systems hardware runs a special version of Windows that allows these notifications to be disabled via the registry. Here are the steps to do this!

1. Download the registry key from the link below on the Windows 10 Player

1. Double click on the file in its downloaded location (usually the Downloads folder) to import the key

    A. You will be presented with a “Run Prompt” - select “Run” (you may be asked provide administrator credentials or permission) 

   B. A warning will appear that looks like this:  

            Click “Yes”

            C.  When the Registry Key has been added you will be presented with this message:

Click “OK”

1. Reboot the Carousel Player

Automatic Windows Updates and notifications are now disabled!

Warning: Windows updates are very important. If you elect to apply this registry key all automatic updates and update notifications will be permanently turned off. Please consult with your I.T. department for best practices and/or company security compliance policies.
